Duolingo is a computer-based adaptive English Test that evaluates your ability to read, write, speak, and listen to English. It is similar to the other mainstream English Test e.g. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The test is used to evaluate an individual’s practical language proficiency in Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking skills. Unlike other tests it allows a candidate to take the test without having to go to a test centre. It is designed to be accessible to all candidates as long as a candidate has access to a computer with an internet connection and a webcam attached. It fits the busy life and the comfort you like.
Acceptance:
The score of the test is based on a holistic scale of 10-160 and provides a comprehensive evaluation of the test-taker’s English language abilities. There are over 4,000 universities and institutions around the globe that accept this test score. Wherever you like to study there should be some institute that accepts this test; make sure you check with the university you’re interested in beforehand.
Cost:
The cost of the Duolingo English Test is $59 USD (June 23). The Duolingo English Test is more affordable compared to other tests such as TOEFL and IELTS. As it is an online examination it allows cutting down on external costs of renting a test centre and other logistics that come with an in-person test.
Another interesting feature is you can also send your scores to up to 40 institutions for no extra cost.
Result:
You can take the test online anytime and anywhere. The test takes 1 hour to complete online. It generally publishes results in 2 to 3 working days. There are enough resources and practice tests available for free on their website.
